Fjords and mountains

Within a day's travel by car, you can visit exciting areas like:

  • The medival Lysekloster covent ruins and the Lysefjord (1 hr)
  • The vast Milde arboretum (2/3 hr)
  • The Hardangerfjord (1,5 hr)
  • The Sognefjord (2-4 hr)
  • Voss – a scenic, mountain hiking area, ski resort and famous extreme-sport hot-spot (1 hr)
  • The Stølsheimen mountains (1 hr)
  • The western Islands of Bergen (1 hr)
  • The Nordhordland area and the islands (1 hr)

Or try some deep-sea fishing. ... and much more!

Estimated times are for a one-way drive; to explore the depth of the fjords, we recommend at least a two-day trip. Speed limits are low in Norway and, with the many fjords and mountains in western Norway, the roads are winding and sometimes narrow; so a "short" trip may take a long time. But we can help you plan your excursions.

If you want to travel without a car, there are some excellent combined bus/train trips, as well as many interesting tours by cruise boat, ferry, express boat and even bicycle. Fjord Tours can give you more information. bicyckles.
